1. We want to produce adhesives for automotive interiors/sound insulation. Should we choose a conventional hot melt glue production line or a PUR production line?

This depends on the testing standards of your target customers (such as OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers):

  • Automotive-grade sound insulation (PUR strongly recommended): Car roofs, engine compartment sound insulation, and doors have stringent requirements for weather resistance and resistance to high and low temperatures (the interior temperature can reach over 90°C in summer). PUR (moisture-curing polyurethane) is an irreversible chemically cured adhesive with high temperature resistance and no VOCs, making it the mainstream adhesive type specified by OEMs.
  • General building/appliance sound insulation (EVA/PO/pressure-sensitive adhesives are also options): If you are producing sound insulation panels for building walls, general packaging pads, or room-temperature sound-absorbing pads for household appliances, conventional non-reactive hot melt glue lines (EVA or PO polyolefin) are more cost-effective and easier to operate and maintain.

2. Automotive sound insulation materials have extremely high requirements for "odor" and "VOC". How can the equipment ensure that the adhesive meets the standards in the process?

The odor and VOC levels of adhesives depend not only on the formulation but also, and perhaps more importantly, on the "vacuum devolatilization" capability of the production equipment. Our production line has undergone targeted upgrades in its design:

  • Ultra-high power high vacuum system: During the later stages of reaction/melting, the system maintains a high vacuum (less than -0.096 MPa), forcefully removing residual small-molecule odor-causing monomers and volatiles from the resin and additives.
  • High-efficiency vacuum condensation and recovery: The extracted volatiles are efficiently intercepted by a multi-stage condenser, protecting the vacuum pump and preventing odors in the workshop.
  • Fully enclosed nitrogen protection: Prevents materials from oxidizing and browning due to contact with air at high temperatures, thereby reducing the generation of secondary odors.
