Key Equipment in PUR Hot Melt Glue Production Line

1. Reactor/Prepolymer Synthesis System

Function: Used to synthesize isocyanate-terminated prepolymers, the cornerstone of PUR adhesives.

Features:

  • High Temperature: The reaction is typically carried out at elevated temperatures (e.g., 80-120°C).
  • Vacuum Dehydration: A high vacuum system is required to ensure that moisture in the raw materials (e.g., polyester/polyether polyols) is completely removed to prevent side reactions with -NCO groups.
  • Precise Temperature Control: Jacketed thermal oil heating/cooling ensures a stable reaction temperature.
  • Inert Gas: The entire reaction process must be conducted under a dry nitrogen atmosphere to isolate the reaction from moisture in the air.

2. Finished Product Mixing Reactor (Cooling and Blending Vessel)

Function: Final mixing of the synthesized prepolymer with fillers, tackifying resins, and other additives.

Features:

  • Powerful agitation: Typically planetary or double planetary agitation ensures uniform mixing of high-viscosity materials.
  • Cooling: Rapid cooling is required in the later stages of mixing to slow the reaction, prevent gelation, and prepare for discharge.
  • Vacuum and nitrogen protection are also required.

3. High Vacuum Unit

Used to extract moisture, low-molecular-weight volatiles, and bubbles generated by stirring from raw materials and systems during the reaction and mixing process. A powerful vacuum system is essential for producing high-quality, bubble-free PUR adhesive.
